I have some advice from you, but it tends to go a bit different than what you get on here. Why on earth would you want to get your products into a bigger department store? First of all, if you are new to the business, this takes some time and experience. For example the buyers that work for these large chains have a manufacture list and can go direct to your source if they want to. They really do not need a middle man, and I say who cares. What you should really do is develop your own brand with these products and open a website that is niche oriented. Niche is where the future is, niche is authority and Google and other search engines love authority. My brother has an account with Walmart that took him 9 years to get into. They (Walmart) has beat his pricing and packaging down almost to the point of pitiful margins. He does much better working with his distributors and through his website. Most people think that the major department store is really the sign of victory, but it is slowly changing. Think about it, would you rather talk to some kid at walmart about a little bit of everything or to a expert in one particular product line. If you specialize, like in niche markets, you are the experts and people will automatically recognize that as fact. I hope this stretches your perception a bit.

If you are thinking about getting started with an online or home based business. You can easily get overloaded with a ton of responses from all sorts of people in the business. Most will say that their business is the best or most profitable. A lot of time that is because they think its the best because it is the field they are in. This is similar to someone saying the pizza is best from their home town just because its what they know and what they like.

What you need is the basic facts to get started, a place to learn the basics. When you have those basics, then you can go on and start to sift out the gems from the rocks. There are a lot of rocks out there. We have found a site that is a video site and it teaches you how to get started in your home based business. It gives you the basic dynamics of what to look for and explains some very important facts.

Buy a business on Ebay?

If you think a good idea is to buy a premade or existing business for sale on Ebay, then you really need to look at this site too since they really focus on it. There is a lot of garbage out there and if you do not know what to look for, you will get separated from your hard earned cash. The site includes a membership and you can easily get through all the material without having to sign up for another month. The best part is the checklist that you can take with you (print) and use a valuable reference in whatever site you choose to buy (or create).

You can find all this information plus a bunch of free stuff in their guest section.

http://www.internetbusinessnavigator.com

This one I highly recommend.

This is probably the $64,000 question that I get asked frequently. So we have made a video to help you answer this question. It really does take research and some creativity to figure out what you would like to venture into. Get a pen and some paper and write down all your ideas after watching this video. The video has some key points in it and will help you to determine in which direction to go next. We will also list some references that you can check to get the job done. Don’t forget, there is a lot of reference material here on this site. It’s not all about manufacturing a product but more about manufacturing yourself as a business. That is whether you sell product, sell a service or sell knowledge. It all starts here.

By Lynn Keller

Learning how to create an ebook doesn’t need to be hard. Here are five simple steps you can follow to make your ebook.

1.Target Your Audience

The first step in learning how to create an ebook is to target your audience. Who is your niche? Who is your market? Before you create an ebook you need to answer these questions.

For some people, deciding what to write is the hard part, but it doesn’t have to be. Think about hobbies, both your own and others, as well as what problems other people have. What do you know that could help people solve problems? People are always looking for advice on how to make money and how to save money. Could you write a guide telling them how to make money from their hobbies?

2.Research and Plan

Chances are, you won’t be able to sit down and create an ebook from the top of your head. Even if it’s a topic you’re familiar with, you’ll want to research and plan before you get started. One simple way to do this is to write down the questions that your market has about the subject. You might want to read forums where they hang out and read the same magazines they read.

3.Write Your Ebook

Now that you have your questions, you can write your ebook. It doesn’t matter whether or not you consider yourself a great writer. You do not have to write 100-plus pages and you don’t need to write perfect prose. Simply answer the questions the same way you would if you were writing a letter with advice to your friend. Let your personality shine through.

If you aren’t an expert in the subject, consider finding someone who is and interview them for your guide. This is a great way to create an ebook on any subject.

4.Convert to PDF

Now that you have your ebook written, let a few friends read it. Proofread it, but don’t worry about catching every mistake. Even published books may have errors.

Once you’re happy with the product, it’s time to convert it into PDF. There are some programs that will do this free with just a click of the button. One choice you have is Open Office, which is a free program similar to Microsoft Office. You can convert Open Office writer documents into PDFs in one step.

5.Upload it on Your Site

Whether you plan to sell your ebook or give it away for free, you need to upload it onto your website so that you can share it with others. You’ll need a website host an FTP program. There are many hosts to choose from, and some cost less than $10 a month. A free FTP program that you can use to upload your ebook onto your site is FileZilla.

If you follow these five simple steps, you can create an ebook in very little time. Soon these steps will become second nature as you create your ebooks.

Done correctly, creating and selling ebooks can be a recession-proof business that you can run from your own home. Don’t make costly mistakes. Sign up for the Home Business Solutions newsletter at http://www.home-business-solutions.net and get the guidance you need to avoid common pitfalls.

By Lenna Green

If you’re good at making jewelry then starting your own home based jewelry business could be a gold mine for you. If you’re anything like me, once you make your mind up to “have a go” it’s easy to rush in amidst the excitement of it all. But this approach can bring you unstuck if you’re not careful. Start by taking a pen and paper and decide on the look and feel of your business. Think about all areas of the business from your work space through to how you are going to sell your designs.

Take Time To Plan Your Jewelry Making Business

Craft businesses can be easily operated from home – especially jewelry making businesses. Your supplies, components, and tools are small and will be easy to store and transport. Your work area and materials aren’t hazardous and probably won’t pose any major storage problems. Although if you have small children you will need to come up with some storage solutions for your smaller materials. Most people can easily run their business from one room in their home – I know people who don’t even devote an entire room to their business.

The Transition from Hobbiest to Professional

If you’ve been making jewelry as a hobby, starting to make jewelry for profit won’t take much more room. The transition from hobbyist to professional requires little or no adjustment in the way you manufacture your products. You may already have sufficient work space in the form of a shop or workroom. Because you will be increasing production volume, you will probably have to find or create adequate storage space, and you’ll want an office of some sort for attending to all the details of running a business. Otherwise, you probably already have most of the tools and other items you need.

Musting up the Confidence

What you may not have is confidence. Confidence is every bit as important as skill. You must have confidence in your craft, in yourself, and in your ability to run a business and sell your products. My goal is to help you develop that confidence by helping you understand how to successfully run your own business.

Don’t Undersell Yourself or Your Work

I know a lot of designers who are guilty of this one. In fact I have been guilty of downplaying my work and designs. It’s important to never think of your products as homemade, but rather as meticulously handcrafted to exacting standards. Handcrafted products are in great demand, because they provide customers with a quality you don’t often find: they’re handmade, they’re unique, and they can be individualized. Handcrafted jewelry often sells for a premium, because customers are willing to pay for something unique and special.

Should You Start Your Own Home Based Jewelry Business?

No one but you can determine whether or not you should start your own jewelry business, but certain indicators can lead you toward the right choice. Of course, if you have little or no skill, poor coordination, and no interest in getting better- find another business. If you don’t enjoy making jewelry, there’s no reason to start a business. If, on the other hand, you’re a competent artisan — even a good one — but have no patience for or interest in managing a business, then you’d better work for someone else and treat jewelry making as a hobby.

Even if the idea of being self-employed as a home-based craftsperson appeals to you, and you either have or are willing to get the necessary skills and knowledge, you still need to understand your strengths and weaknesses. This is part of the planning stage of your business. It’s a process that’s never too early to start and one you should continue throughout the life of your home based jewelry business.

If you have been thinking about starting an eBay jewelry business, this is the time for it. The holidays are coming and people are looking for great gifts to buy for the ones they love.

Most people are also very busy. This means they are going to look for the most convenient way to shop. With today’s computerized world, that means they are often looking to make great purchases online. With a few clicks the shopping is done.

If you are the person who offers a great deal to others, you stand to make some great sales this season

Know Your Niche

The first thing you have to decide is which kind of jewelry you are going to sell:

Low End – These are items that may cost up to $50 each. These are generally no-brainer items when it comes to making a purchase and are items that will be bought by those who are young and on a limited budget as well as those who want to add a little something to a bigger gift.

Middle End – in the $50 – $250 jewelry area is middle end jewelry. These are generally for someone special and will be one of the main gifts for the recipient.

High End – For very discerning tastes comes the high-end jewelry line. These pieces are over $250 a piece and may go into the thousands of dollars. These are special presents that are very important to both the buyer and recipient.

Find Your Supplies

Once you know the kind of jewelry you want to sell, its time to figure out where you are going to get them from. There are essentially two options here.

The first is to purchase wholesale jewelry which is 50% below retail prices. These are often found through wholesale auctions on websites like eBay or from a distributor.

The other option is to purchase pieces of liquidation jewelry. These are pieces that are overstocks, closeouts or returns that have been bundled together for quick sale. Finding the right liquidation auction could land you jewelry at pennies on the dollar compared to their retail price.

Start Selling

Once you have decided on the kind of jewelry that you want to sell, it’s time to start selling. The most important thing to keep in mind with eBay selling is that your picture has to speak for the items you are selling. Make sure your photos are clear and easy to see detail in. If necessary, take more than one shot and upload multiple pictures to give your customers a clear view of what they are purchasing.

How to Start an Ebay Business

By William Brister

eBay has become a huge business with people raking in hundreds of dollars selling discounted merchandise ranging from garage sale items to new products and collectibles. Research shows that more than 700,000 people across the world make a living, either part time or full-time selling on eBay. It is interesting to note that as more people generate income from eBay, the greater the number of shoppers attracted to the site.

Most people wanting to start an eBay business come as buyers, get hooked on the bandwagon, learn the art of selling and as they clear the belongings they have set out to sell, they realize that they have started making money as well. Thus, several enterprising individuals who began as part time home based businesses have turned these into thriving companies employing numerous employees.

But just as with all small businesses, one must be aware of certain things while starting an eBay business. There is a huge market with many buyers and lots of competition. The issues dealing with finance, warehousing, payment channels and fulfilling orders also remain equally challenging.

To start an eBay business, is like investing time and effort in any other. So ensure that you have a prudent business plan just like for a traditional business. Also, make sure that it is in congruence with your lifestyle and your needs with attainable goals.

Think about the products that you are going to offer and strategize on how to buy and sell on eBay. What would you prefer to be – retail store offering a variety. or a discount merchant with specialized products? Is there anything that distinguishes you from your competitors? Select access to buying products will allow you an edge over your competition.

The trick of ‘buying and selling on eBay’ would be to buy at a low cost and sell at a premium and thus generate profits. But it’s not always that simple. You have to think carefully of your strategy for buying products at a price that’s low enough to allow you a profit margin when you mark it up to a price that is still attractive to your market. Also account for the turnover and how your profit margin combined with it will support your operations and still deliver a profit to you.

Once you have your business plan all figured out and products decided, you need to register yourself at eBay. Visit eBay and click on the “Sell” tab at the top of the homepage. Follow the step-by-step instructions to register as an eBay community member. You will have to provide your basic contact information, as well as banking information, such as credit card and checking account numbers. Once that is done, give your business a structure by filing for incorporation or forming a limited liability company.

Since it is a business, whether part-time or full time, keep separate accounting books so as to avoid creating confusion during tax season. Also get insurance for yourself and your eBay business.

Once all the preliminaries are sorted out, there are issues that need to be heeded of a more serious nature. These include paying for your merchandise, stocking goods, receiving payments from customers, as well as financing your business. Although there are many options for all of these, seek out the best suited for you. Stocking can start with garages or basements to save costs in the initial period. You can even use rental storage units and once money starts coming in think of more permanent options like warehouses. You can link up with your customers through payment companies like PayPal, which is an online payment service that enables buyers to pay for their purchases by drawing funds from their credit cards or checking accounts.

After all the logistics are taken care of, you can start your eBay business. Ensure that your web pages are well designed and attractive with good photographs of the products so that customers keep visiting. This is important, as this is the only way for a person to know what he is buying. Decide on which model you want to use to sell your goods, auction model or fixed price model. Packing and shipping need special attention to ensure repeated business. Finally, pay attention to your eBay feedback rating especially designed to help eBay buyers and sellers police each other. As you collect positive ratings, buyers will view your business in a credible light, an extremely critical aspect of eBay.

With all this you are set to becoming a successful entrepreneur on eBay!
