The ebook concept is new to many, and most people think that it is too good to be true. I mean, there are very few markets where you can create your finished product for almost nothing, sell it over and over again with no production or inventory costs, and keep 100% of the profits. But that is exactly what happens each and every day in the ebook world.

So let’s look and see exactly what it will cost to start selling your ebook quickly.

1. Write your ebook

What you need for this is a PC, a word processor, and an Internet connection. Since you are reading this article, chances are pretty good that you have all of these already. Creating your ebook really is as simple as sitting down and typing your ebook in a word processor.

2. Create a cover

An eye-catching cover helps sell your ebook, although I have seen some people sell hundreds of ebooks without ever creating a cover. You can create your own cover without much trouble at all. If you have any computer graphics experience, this will be simple. If not, basic computer graphics are not terribly hard to create and there are free tools that will do the trick. Otherwise, you can buy cover generators that will help you out for less than $40.

3. Convert your ebook to a PDF

A PDF is the most popular ebook format. A PDF allows you to “freeze” the format of your ebook so that it cannot be edited, and it also shrinks the file size of your ebook. There are plenty of free PDF converters on the market. One of my favorites is called CutePDF.

4. Create a sales page

To do this, you will need a server to host your website and a URL for people to get to your website. Altogether this will cost less than $15 a month. You will need to create an opt-in page to get subscriptions to your email list and a sales page to sell your ebook.

5. Get an Autoresponder

If you want to make money online, it is almost required that you have an email list unless you just get thousands of visitors a day to your website. An autorepsonder is a very simple program that lets you send automated emails to your subscribers on a set schedule. There are free autoresponders you can use, but you really don’t want to cut costs here. A good autoresponder will cost anywhere from $20 – $50 a month.
